“Honkai: Star Rail” players worldwide will receive a limited-time free subscription to Sony’s anime-focused streamer Crunchyroll‘s premium offering.
The partnership begins just as “Honkai: Star Rail” launches a new game update on Nov. 5, Version 3.7 “As Tomorrow Became Yesterday,” which features new content and 5-star character Cyrene (Remembrance).
In a deal between “Honkai: Star Rail” publisher HoYoverse and Crunchyroll, eligible players will have the ability to access a 14-Day Mega Fan Free Trial for Crunchyroll Premium from Nov. 6 to Jan. 27. The offer (which is double the regular 7-day free trial offered by Crunchryoll) will be triggered by linking a user’s “Honkai: Star Rail” account to a Crunchyroll account.
Crunchyroll memberships are currently priced at $7.99 a month for the lowest tier (Fan), $11.99 for the middle tier (Mega Fan), and $15.99 for top tier (Ultimate Fan).
Additionally, commissioned “Honkai: Star Rail” fan work “Chimerric Park” will debut exclusively on Crunchyroll for two weeks. Per HoYoverse and Crunchyroll, “The exclusive premiere elevates this sincere expression of fandom, placing rich, dynamic art from around the world alongside the greatest anime.”
New and existing users who link their accounts across “Honkai: Star Rail” and Crunchyroll can also earn “Honkai: Star Rail” in-game rewards like Stellar Jades and Lost Crystals.
Territories excluded from the offer include China, Japan, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Belarus, the Ukrainian regions of Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk, Iran and Syria.
“We know that nearly 80% of anime fans play anime or anime-related games, and 40% of our audience are playing pop culture defining games like Honkai: Star Rail more than 20 hours a week,” Crunchyroll executive vice president of emerging business Terry Li said. “Delivering in-game rewards to Crunchyroll Members is our way of enhancing their gaming experiences and creating compelling moments to jump into titles that speak to our fans.”
